August Updates from the Affiliate Steering Committee

Hi everyone,
I hope your August is off to a great start! The Affiliate Steering Committee met earlier this week. Here are a few updates and highlights from our discussion:

*Planning for the NAAEE Conference is underway! We will be hosting an Affiliate Strand at the conference, as in year's past, but this year a sub-committee has been working on some new ideas to create a more integrated experience. All the Affiliate Sessions will be hosted in the same session room and there will be 10 different traditional sessions presented by Affiliates, as well as session blocks focused on creating opportunities for discussion, sharing, and networking. Thanks to all those who participated in the committee to support planning! Stay tuned for information in the coming weeks about the Affiliate Welcome, Affiliate Dinner (you can sign up as part of your conference registration), and Affiliate auction items!

*We are working to make it easier to share information and learn about what other affiliates are doing! A small subcommittee has been working to send out a new Affiliate Survey (many of you may remember filling out the survey in the past with information about your size, budget, programs, etc.). They are working to make the survey easier to complete and compile the data to be available at the conference. Watch your email for a survey soon and make sure someone from your affiliate fills it out!

*Thanks to everyone who emailed ideas about the Affiliate Network Pisces Grant. As a reminder, the Steering Committee was invited to apply (outside of the RFP process happening right now) to help advance the network and help us grow capacity. We narrowed in on three primary activities for next year: 1) Develop Guiding Principles and update Affiliate Network operating procedures with an equity and inclusion lens that will help increase engagement across the network, 2) Engage in a systems mapping process to understand where the Affiliate Network can prioritize efforts and resources to most effectively advance environmental education, and 3) Create Affiliate Network Messaging to support affiliates in communicating with a unified voice that is aligned with wider field efforts.
This foundational work will set us up to create a strong collective work plan in 2021. We will keep everyone posted on the results!

As always you can check out the full notes from our meeting at the link below. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions in the comments below or email director@caee.org.

Thanks so much for all you do to advance EE through your affiliate!
