Canadian National Roundtable on ESE in Preservice teacher education

The National Roundtable aims to bring together teacher educators, researchers, policy-makers, Aboriginal scholars, graduate students, and community partners to establish a national network of educators and researchers dedicated to strengthen-ing Environmental and Sustainability Education (ESE) in pre-service teacher education. The Roundtable will provide opportunities to analyze ESE in Canadian pre-service teacher education programs, share existing research, exchange teaching strategies, and create a collective Action Plan in order to catalyze curricular, pedagogical, and professional responses in this field.
Who: Teacher educators, faculty, researchers, policy-makers, Aboriginal scholars, graduate students, teacher candidates, and community partners involved in ESE in pre-service teacher education
Why: Create a new network of educators and researchers across Canada to collaboratively develop an action plan to strengthen ESE in pre-service teacher education programs across the country
Where: The beautiful campus of Trent University, in Peterborough, Ontario (about an hour from Toronto), which is also home to the innovative Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. It is in close proximity to Petroglyphs Provincial Park and the Canadian Canoe Museum.
Details: The Roundtable will feature two and a half days of collaborative inquiry via roundtable discussions, research and ‘best practices’ presentations, keynote talks, and co-operative planning to develop an action plan to strengthen ESE in Canadian pre-service teacher education programs.
