The MAAEE strategic planning committee has taken a critical look at the current landscape of environmental education in Minnesota, compared it with MAEE’s current resource base, and created a plan for how MAEE can make the biggest, most unique impact as an all volunteer organization going forward. We came up with a vision for the three pillars of MAEE, framing how we can best support the excellent EE work already being done throughout the state:

  1. We are a voice for EE
  2. We advocate for EE
  3. We connect Environmental Educators to each other

MAEE supports and advances EE throughout the state to strengthen the role of education as a solution to our pressing environmental and societal challenges.

Goals & Objectives

We are:

  • a voice for environmental education.
  • advocates for environmental education.
  • connectors that unite environmental educators with each other.

Our main areas of focus include:

  • The EE Portal @MAEE: Maintaining a network of environmental education jobs, grants, resources, and community events
  • Events: Organizing conferences and gatherings to promote professional development and networking opportunities
  • Resources and Scholarships: Empowering environmental educators through statewide initiatives, resources, and scholarships
  • Awards: Acknowledging successful EE programs and professionals with special recognition
  • Advocacy: Supporting legislation, partnerships, and programming that advances EE at the state, regional and national level

Current Initiatives

The Minnesota Association for Environmental Education (MAEE), has committed to several initiatives that fulfill the mission of the organization and forward the field of environmental education, including:

  • To increase and maintain active participants in MAEE
  • To connect the EE community to resources and each other
  • To support and demonstrate values; increase fundraising to support the ongoing work of MAAEE
