We imagine a province where every person can experience a deep connection with nature, where people play and learn outdoors, and live in harmony with their natural surroundings.

SaskOutdoors is a dynamic, active organization promoting outdoor and environmental education in Saskatchewan (Canada) to formal, informal and non formal educators as well as the general public.

The mission of SaskOutdoors is to connect people of Saskatchewan to the outdoors and inspire a sense of curiosity and play within our natural environment by passionately delivering programs and services that promote awareness of outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship.

Goals & Objectives

SaskOutdoors is committed to the following fundamental guiding principles. These principles or values guide our organization’s behaviours, decision making processes, actions, and the programs and services we provide:

  1. Environmental responsibility
  2. Inclusivity
  3. Respect
  4. Transparency
  5. Sharing
  6. Appreciation
  7. Cooperation
  8. Quality education

Current Initiatives

  1. Facilitating and providing varied outdoor experiences for people.
  2. Increasing public awareness and involvement.
  3. Building a viable and sustainable organization.
  4. Developing partnerships and alliances.
  5. Influencing outdoor education policies and curriculum

Once a year we publish, Of Land & Living Skies: A Community Journal on Place, Land & Learning. Of Land & Living Skies is a community journal where theory and practice merge, becoming a space for dialogue within the fields of environmental and sustainability education, and focusing on research, policy, and community practices, as well as inspiring action.

SaskOutdoors offers professional development opportunities to educators through Project WET, Project WILD, Growing Up WILD, Flying WILD and Below Zero Workshops. We also offer Wilderness First Aid, Leave No Trace and Paddle Canada Canoe Certification courses. SaskOutdoors encourages everyone to recreate out of doors so we offer a variety of beginner or "learn-to" events each year such as winter camping, paddling and outdoor play.

See you outside!
