The University of Michigan’s Center for Sustainable Systems (CSS) has researched and compiled a collection of outside resources, that K-12 educators can use to supplement some of the key sustainability topics found in CSS’s Sustainability Factsheet collection.
Redford Center Stories invites young people (particularly those in 5th-12th grade) to join a journey of learning that builds confidence for learning across any subject and puts them in the director’s seat to discover and articulate their wisdom as authors of humanity’s collective narrative.
Invitations to Inquiry are short instructional activities designed to help middle and high school students work with large data sets. The activities engage students with community and citizen science data from projects hosted on FieldScope. Teachers and students use the interactive FieldScope platform to collect, visualize, and analyze environmental data. With these new Inquiries, students can explore FieldScope’s advanced mapping and graphing tools to dig deeper into data in the context of meaningful science classroom lessons.

The Center for Behavior and Climate is seeking 10 pilot high schools to try out one or more of our online 6 Dive Deeper climate science and solutions short courses for free. Courses take just one class period.
Mi María: Surviving the Storm is a new oral history book that amplifies Puerto Ricans' first-person stories in the aftermath of Hurricane María, exploring how communities come together in the wake of disaster, how government neglect impacts recovery, and how precarity is exacerbated for those on the frontlines of the climate crisis. There are also corresponding free lesson plans available for educators to bring these narratives into the classroom and teach about the climate crisis, colonialism, representation, migration, disaster response, and more.
